ADDRESS DELIVERED BY THE HONOURABLE STATE COMMISSIONER FOR COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY OMOOBA GBENGA OSINOWO AT THE STANDARDS ORGANISATION OF NIGERIA OFFICIAL PRESENTATION OF THE CERTIFICATE OF CONFORMITY OF QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM TO FOOD, AGRO AND ALLIED INDUSTRIES LIMITED ON THURSDAY 10TH JUNE 2010

Gentlemen of the Press,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
1. It gives me great pleasure to be here today for the presentation of NIS ISO 9001:2008 Certificate to Food, Agro and Allied Industries Limited by Standards Organization of Nigeria. Undoubtedly, this occasion is unique as I have been reliably informed that your Organization is the only Malting Plant to receive the ISO award.
2. Let me commend the efforts of the management of Food, Agro and Allied Industries Limited for this success at a time when the manufacturing sector is facing various challenges. However it is a thing of joy that your Company is in operation and I pray that your business will continue to thrive.
3. The role of the Standards Organization of Nigeria in ensuring that manufacturers produce goods of better quality and international standards is very important. I am aware that conformity assessment and certification are now effective tools being used by most developed countries of the world for establishing quality competence and acceptance of products at the international business market.
4. I therefore wish to take this opportunity to call on other manufacturing concern operating within the State to work within the Standards Organization of Nigeria in order that relevant quality requirements are fulfilled. It is my belief that manufacturers operating within the State will continue to take necessary advantage s and exploit other markets outside the shores of this Country.
5. Ogun State has taken a new look in terms of industrial development since 2003 as it is now the preferred investment destination of choice for investors. This has come about because of the development of infrastructures and business friendly posture of the present administration under Otunba Gbenga Daniel.
6. I wish to reiterate the commitment of the State Government to continue to create conductive environment for the growth and development of private investment. The State Government will give necessary incentives and encouragement to genuine indigenous and foreign investors wishing to explore and develop the abundant mineral and agricultural resources in the State. This will further strengthen the platform for public- private sector partnership in the State.
7. As part of the effort of the State Government towards alleviation of poverty, employment generation and improved standard of living of indigenes of the State, my Ministry will from time to time send job seekers to your organization for employment.
8. Once again, I congratulate the management of Food, Agro and Allied Industries Limited for this laudable achievement. I wish your organization the best in your business endeavors in Ogun State.
